Ben and G, you guys would be so proud
I am not a big gambler. The only time I go to casinos is when Ben invites me or I am on some sort of trip. I like the thrill of gambling, but it hurts too much when I lose so I am not very good at it and won’t bet much. So tonight I got out $40 and I played the roulette wheel for a couple of hours and ended up $100 ahead. I wanted to keep playing but I decided to enjoy the moment and leave a...

My easy 4 miler turned into a fast 4 miles so that I could get home to watch the kids while Sarah went to Zumba. Normally we would take them to the child center at the fitness center, but they are both running fevers. I didn’t mind the change of pace, it felt good to get the heart rate up.

Last Night was AWFUL
As a Patriots fan the Super Bowl was not pleasant to watch. I went through the whole spectrum of emotions last night, and when I got home I couldn’t really function or put into words why I felt the way I did. Bill Simmons, The Sports Guy, as done a great job explaining exactly how I felt. It helps that he is a huge Boston/New England fan like I am. The rest of this post is his: Reliving one...

To my buddy named Guy
I need you to keep me up to date on your wagering. I would love to gamble all the time, but I don’t have the stomach or money to do it, so I live vicariously through your tumbler! If you enjoy gambling I suggest you follow Ibelieveinmysystem.

107 miles running for the month of January
Started February with 6.5 miles. Tonight was one of those runs that I didn’t want to do. At the 1.5 mile mark I REALLY wanted to quit, but if I only ran when I felt like it and had energy then I wouldn’t run very often. Of course once I was done I felt great and glad I did it.

WatchWatch
My 7th grade off-season football players doing sit-ups for St. Jude’s. They are wearing helmets and singing “All I Do is Win.” When I told them why we doing them with helmets and singing they were super excited.

This isn’t me, but today was one of those days where it all feels worth it. I got up feeling light and the scale confirmed my feelings and then when I was getting dressed for church my belt went past its normal notch, which is AWESOME. Since I was feeling good I decided to go for a run with no watch, no Garmin, no heart rate monitor, no specific route or plan. Just me and Pandora radio. My...

Rest day
turned into a 5 mile run with Pa. He was in town doing some school stuff and asked if I wanted to run, so we hit up the river trail in North Little Rock. Always enjoy time with dad. I have had a couple of people ask me questions in the last week or so and I thought I would answer them here: What marathon am I running? I am in week 4 of marathon training for the Sussex marathon just outside of...

My easy run turned into
pace work because it was 30 minutes until kickoff for the cotton bowl and I knew I had to get in the 4 miles the marathon guide called for. I finished in 36:02. Thankfully tv games never start on time and I was able to see kickoff. Go hogs go!

To the man letting his dog out to pee, you saved...
or at least my good pair of running tights. Because of my stomach issues I have a VERY good sense when the urge hits me if I can hold it or if I better find a bathroom quick and in a hurry! Tonight on my long run it hit me. I stopped and thought of my options as I was a few miles from home: 1. have my wife wake up both kids and come pick me up 2. walk into the bushes in the neighborhood I...

It's been over 24 hours without the dew
Very small headache, but not as bad as the one you get when you argue with stupid people. So my question is: what do I drink now? I have been at school all day, the students come back tomorrow, and I find myself wanting to sip on something. I have a water bottle with me, but I would like something with flavor. I can handle not having the caffeine, but what do I get when everyone goes to lunch?...

Just had a great conversation
I am in the middle of my long run and I passed a bail bonds place. Christmas lights were strung up and about 10 plastic patio chairs are outside. The only thing missing was a grill with burgers. My curiosity got the best of me and I took off my headphones and said hi to the guy sitting outside. His name was James and I told him that it looked like he was having a party and expecting a lot of...

My name is Jed and I have a problem.
I have known for a while that I drink A LOT of diet drinks. Before I started Doing Life I rarely drank soda. Diet or regular, the only time I bought them was when I went out to eat. I NEVER bought them for home. I only drank milk, water, tea, and occasionally kool-aid. As I started counting my calories I started drinking diet drinks regularly. One or two a day. Then I started drinking them when...
